This is a handsomely made book. And for the $4 used book price I got my money's worth. It's a bit too terse for me, meaning, it does not go into enough detail. This book does not clarify enough of the rules to be very useful in learning the games if you're not already familiar with them. Each listing is more like a summary about the game, and does not go into any detail about the actual play or rules.Guess I'll get the official Hoyle, or Bicycle's, rules of card games books. I bought this for my 15 year old so.mn for Christmas. He has spent weeks learning game after game. The instructions are (mostly) clear once you start playing and I love that my son is reading a book & learning numbers, strategy & cause & effect with NO SCREENS! We are spending quality time together playing games. This was almost as good a gift for me as it was for him!
It's gonna take me forever to play and learn all these, no better value for dollar on this topic exsists outside a free PDF. Our new favorite is Bura. Good stuff.
Purchased it as a gift along two sets of playing cards. However, the book is so nice and well made, I will be purchasing one for myself.The book itself is well bound, the paper is thick, and is very 'professional' looking. The instructions and writing is clear and easy to follow.
This is a beautifully bound little book. I bought it as a present for my mother, who loves card games. We both loved the organization of the book into chapters based upon the number of players (as well as the helpful indexes). The book includes a wide variety of games and variations -- you won't easily get bored!
Pretty nice reference book. I haven't had time to go through everything in it, but it seems very well detailed. The 3 stars is for it's compactness. This book should be 30% larger--or it should come with a magnifying glass. The type is S-M-A-L-L!
Is not. Is too.Ever been in this position during a card came? You need the rules to clear up most questions/infractions. Most people do, and this handsome book fills the bill nicely. It has glossy pages, rules set out in an easy-to-follow way. It is arranged by the number of people needed to play each game. It is just what you need when challenged.
Lots of good information on just about every card game out there. Glad I bought this book.
