I ordered this book specifically for the chapter on feline inappropriate elimination. I have been dealing with this issue at home for a long time now, and I've bought a LOT of books on the subject (and other behavior issues in cats) as well as done extensive online research, consulted behaviorists and veterinarians, etc. This book was like a breath of fresh air after slogging through so many other resources. I only skimmed through the other chapters, but the inappropriate elimination chapter was extremely well-organized and the information was very accessible. By and large, the information was very much in line with the best information I've found elsewhere -- but here, it was all in one place! Many books I have found, that are directed to the average cat owner, seem to assume that we are not capable of understanding the issues, so they don't get in depth -- just tell you to seek out a behaviorist or veterinarian. This book is directed to veterinary medicine practitioners, and while it isn't the most in-depth material available in that field (more of an overview), it is a great resource. Because the book comes from the UK and is a bit expensive, I first checked into this book on Google books -- I was able to find very small excerpts there, but it was enough to give me an idea of the content and convince me it was worth taking the plunge. Bottom line, in my opinion, if you are looking for a book that will help you understand feline inappropriate elimination (or, I would venture, one of the other canine or feline behavior issues addressed) it is worth the price-tag. You could easily buy four or five of the "leading" books on the same topic and still not have the quality of material that this one volume has. The only reason I refrain from giving a full five-star rating is that, for the price of the book and given that it is targeted to veterinarians, I did expect even a little more information (especially more discussion on the appropriate use of behavior drugs for some of these issues). It's a tough judgment to make, though, because it really is the best book I have found so far on the topic of feline inappropriate elimination, so I am completely satisfied with the purchase from that standpoint. Hope this helps someone ... it's kind of a strange sort of review, due to the nature of the product, I think.
